Sasha Calle is joining the Ezra Miller Flash movie to play Supergirl.
As revealed by the movie’s director Andy Muschetti on Instagram, the star of The Young and the Restless will be joining Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash for the Justice League spin-off, alongside Billy Crudup as Barry Allen’s father and Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as two multiverse versions of Batman. Billy Crudup is also involved as Barry Allen’s father.
Muschetti said, “I saw more than 400 auditions. The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role.”
The latest screenplay for the much-delayed movie has been written by Birds of Prey screenwriter Christina Hodson and sees the Flash race back in time to stop his mother’s murder and consequently messing up his timeline.
Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El/Supergirl was introduced in 1959’s Action Comics #252 by Otto Binder and Al Plastino and has been portrayed on the big screen before, by Helen Slater in the 1984 film Supergirl, while Melissa Benoist took the role for the successful CW series which is coming to an end with Season 6 this year.
The Flash is currently due for release on November 4, 2022.
